Year in Review.

High Points:

- Landing a job. Not the most ideal, but fuck if I don’t love and hate it at the same time. I have some of the coolest residents to talk to and I honestly couldn’t ask for better co-workers. They help me out when I need it, push me to become better, and tolerate my odd behavior late at night with a smile.

- Traveling. Started with that Canadian road trip in late 2010 then progressed to a solo trip to Tokyo and various drives up to the L.A. area. Tokyo was amazing, especially attempting to tackle it alone. Being able to get out of San Diego every once in awhile for new scenery is great, just like it is to find my way home after leaving.

- Having money in the bank. My spending has been off the wall since I started to get regular paychecks, but I’ve slowed down considerably since it began. I don’t even know what I’m saving for. Vacation? I don’t have enough time. Moving out? I don’t even know if I have enough time to cook myself a decent meal every day.

Low Points:

- Not being able to see the people I want to see as often as I want to see them. A combination of laziness, mismatched schedules, and no way of contacting each other is to blame. Funny how I still want to catch up with people I haven’t seen in years.

- People dying. Had my first death at work and was partially at a loss of how to deal. Let that wave of panic wash over for 5 sec. then handle it. Talking with families still gets kind of tough when you have to tell them things they don’t want to hear, but it’s getting easier.

- Excessive time at work. Maybe I’m still reeling from that full-time job syndrome, but it’s odd how I see and spend more time with co-workers than my family. All this overtime is killer.

What I Want to Happen:

- More traveling. Currently planning to use vacation days for a trip. Location still TBD, but we’re throwing some places around. I have an itch to go overseas though and put my passport to good use.

- Getting back to basics. Reading. Writing. Exercising. All things I’ve sorely missed out on in the past three months.

- Staying healthy. My benefits officially kicked in. Time to hit up the dentist.

- More time with fam. ‘Nuff said.

Here’s to 2012. Because 2011 wasn’t that bad of a year.
